Hofstra coach Tom Pecora will accept the head coaching job at Fordham today, according to a report.
Report: Hofstra’s Coach Tom Pecora Leaving For Fordham
Pecora, who has lead Hofstra to four 20-win seasons in the past six years, has a stellar reputation among New York City high school and AAU basketball coaches and recruited many top city players to Hofstra.
Pecora’s local ties were a key factor in Fordham’s pursuit of the coach, who was also rumored to be in the mix for openings at St. John’s and Seton Hall.
The New York Daily News is reporting that Fordham will pay Pecora $705,000 a year.
Pecora takes over for interim coach Jared Grasso, a Fordham assistant who served as head coach after Dereck Whittenburg was fired in December.
Pecora will have his work cut out for him at Rose Hill. The Rams finished 2-26 this season with an abysmal 0-16 mark in the Atlantic-10. They’ve gone 1-31 in conference play in the past two seasons.
