For the Lions, there would be nothing wrong with taking either Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy.
Lions remain confident trade proposal coming
But the possibility of getting either of them wouldn’t stop Lions head coach Jim Schwartz from trading the No. 2 pick in the draft. Schwartz’s reasoning is that a team might want to move up and select a quarterback.
“I feel confident that we’ll have an opportunity to move back,” general manager Martin Mayhew told the media on Tuesday . “Will that be an opportunity that we want to take advantage of? Will it be a situation where we feel we’re getting appropriate value? I couldn’t answer that right now.”
The only feasible scenario would be St. Louis taking Suh and a team like Cleveland or Buffalo wanting to get better positioning to take Sam Bradford.
It’s somewhat far fetched, but still a possibility.
“It’s going to be interesting to see the way it all shakes out,” Schwartz told the media. “Quarterbacks make people move at the top of the draft, and I think that it’ll be interesting to see when it’s all said and done how much interest there is in those (quarterbacks) and where we go with that second pick.”
