Your Requisite Tyler Smith Update: Dominating In Turkey

After Tyler Smith was dismissed from the Tennessee basketball team in January for probably being the guy who brought the weed and guns into the car with his teammates, it seemed like his prospects for playing in the NBA were dimmed beyond repair. And perhaps that’s still true. But Smith’s not giving up on the dream, and he’s currently destroying his competition in Turkey.

↵As Lost Lettermen notes, Smith’s averaging over 20 points and nearly eight rebounds per game in his first four contests for Bornova BLD. Smith isn’t there to stay (yet); he signed only a two-month contract with Bornova, hoping to be able to come back stateside for the NBA draft.

↵This may all be for naught, however; David Stern has probably already sent out a league-wide memo warning that any team who drafts a guy with Tyler Smith’s baggage will be put onto a rocket and shot into the sun. And if Stern hasn’t, he’s slipping.
