Fitch: There's nothing more important to me right now than fighting for a title. ... I want a title shot.
White: Yeah, he's in the mix, there's no doubt. He's in the mix. There's a couple of guys at the top of the (welter)weight division. Maybe we do him and Koscheck for the No. 1 spot.↵Q: Would you be open to that, Jon?
↵Fitch: No, I wouldn't be open to that.
↵White: He doesn't want the title shot that bad then. (chuckles)
↵Fitch: If that fight were to happen, it would happen in our gym, with the doors closed.
↵White(sarcastically): That fight would make a lot of money.

Jon Fitch Isn’t Open To Fighting Josh Koscheck
↵Both sides are right in their own way. Fitch and Koscheck shouldn’t be “forced” to fight if they don’t want to and Dana has no responsibility to put either man in a title shot. This is a sport where it’s very possible to end up in the top end of a division with a friend or teammate. Some teams view an inter-camp fight as simple competition and will make things happen, other teams view it as outside of the realm of acceptability. But if you don’t fight the best fighters you don’t have the right to be upset when you don’t get preferred treatment.
