Mock Draft 3.0

1. St. Louis Rams- QB- Sam Bradford- Oklahoma

- I have been convinced that Suh would be the pick but Bradford is gaining steam. The more and more consider this pick I feel that the Rams cannot pass up the opportunity to solidify the quarterback position. And as crazy as it sounds teams must consider the business aspect of football. A new franchise quarterback creates more excitement than a defensive tackle

2. Detroit Lions- DT- Ndamukong Suh- Nebraska

- The Lions get the best player in the draft at a position of major need. Suh will bring an immediate impact to an organization attempting to get back to respectability.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DT- Gerald McCoy- Oklahoma

- McCoy will be a disruptive force on a defense desperate for talent. There are a lot of people that feel McCoy is better than Suh, so in some eyes the Bucs will get the best player in the draft at pick 3. It may just be the Oklahoma ties but McCoy gives me the Tommie Harris vibe, as a player that is capable of getting in the backfield on every play.

4. Washington Redskins- T- Russell Okung- Oklahoma State

- The Redskins will give Jason Campbell one last shot and in the mean time solidify their offensive line.

5. Kansas City Chiefs- S- Eric Berry- Tennessee

- The Chiefs get a great playmaker in Berry. He fills a big void in the defensive backfield and will give the Chiefs a player to build their defense around.

6. Seattle Seahawks- DE- Jason Paul- Pierre- South Florida

- Paul- Pierre is a fast rising prospect with little experience but tons of athletic ability. Players like Paul- Pierre are tough for coaches and GMs to pass on because of their unlimited potential.

7. Cleveland Browns- RB- CJ Spiller- Clemson

- Spiller had a good combine and good production at Clemson. The Browns need offensive playmakers and Spiller’s pass catching ability is something that Holmgren covets.

8. Oakland Raiders- T- Bruce Campbell- Maryland

- Campbell was very impressive at the combine and has as much athletic ability as anyone in the draft. His potential will fire his rise up the draft boards. If the Raiders want JaMarcus Russell to be successful they need to protect him.

9. Buffalo Bills- QB- Jimmy Clausen- Notre Dame

- Just like the Rams the Bills need to solve the public relation issues in the Buffalo area. They need to get the fans excited and drafting a potential franchise quarterback is the best way to nurture excitement. The Bills have a need on the offensive line so players like Anthony Davis and Bryan Bulaga are possible. They might be tempted to select Dan Williams to help facilitate their switch to a 3-4 defense.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars- DE- Derrick Morgan- Georgia Tech

- Morgan has the pass rushing skills and the college production to help Jaguar fans forget about Derrick Harvey.

11. Denver Broncos (from CHI) - DT- Dan Williams- Tennessee

- Dan Williams is a hot name because of his ability to anchor the defensive line of 3-4 scheme. The Broncos need to find the replacement for Ronnie Fields and continue the development of their defense.

12. Miami Dolphins- LB- Rolando McClain- Alabama

- McClain’s decision to not participate at the combine didn’t hurt his stock but it didn’t help it either. McClain could have used the momentum of a great combine to crack the top ten. However, the Dolphins are ecstatic to add McClain to their linebacking corps.

13. San Francisco 49ers- CB- Joe Haden- Florida

- A poor 40 time has teams questioning Haden’s top-end speed and unfortunately for Joe this is an important piece to the draft puzzle. The 49ers get good value at a position of need and will benefit from Haden’s misery.

14. Seattle Seahawks (from DEN) - T- Anthony Davis- Rutgers

- Walter Jones’ retirement leaves a gaping hole on the Seattle offensive line. Davis has the potential to become a Pro Bowl tackle.

15. New York Giants- T- Bryan Bulaga- Iowa

- Kareem McKenzie is aging and injury prone and Bulaga adds depth and an option other than William Beatty. The Giants know how important a strong offensive line is, so drafting Bulaga will help now but also stabilize the future of the offensive line.

16. Tennessee Titans- DE- Everson Griffen- Southern California

- The Titans need pass rushing help and Griffen is a fast rising prospect that has good pass rushing skills. The injuries and potential loss of Vanden Bosch has made this position a priority.

17. San Francisco 49ers (from CAR) - T- Trent Williams- Oklahoma

- The 49ers need to fill the right tackle position and Williams might be the best right tackle in the draft. Williams had a good combine that have some rethinking his ability to play on both the left and right tackle positions.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers- G/T- Mike Iupati- Idaho

- The Steelers need help along the offensive line and Iupati’s run blocking ability is right up the Steelers alley.

19. Atlanta Falcons- CB- Devin McCourty- Rutgers

- Atlanta needs depth and talent at the cornerback position and McCourty is a perfect fit. McCourty had a good senior bowl and combine which has facilitated his rise on draft boards. McCourty has high character which is something that will be important to the Falcons.

20. Houston Texans- S- Earl Thomas- Texas

- The Texans need help in the defensive backfield. Some believe that Thomas can make the switch to the cornerback position but if not he provides another playmaker to this emerging defense.

21. Cincinnati Bengals- WR- Dez Bryant- Oklahoma State

- The Bengals need wide receiver help and Bryant is the best available in this draft. He slides to this position because of character questions and the fact he didn’t work out at the combine after missing over half of the college season.

22. New England Patriots- LB- Sergio Kindle- Texas

- I have had Kindle in this spot since day one and he stays. Abilities just fit the needs of the Patriots.

23. Green Bay Packers- C/G- Maurkice Pouncey- Florida

- Unfortunately for the Packers all the top tackles are off the board so they will have to settle for upgrading the other spots along the offensive line.

24. Philadelphia Eagles- S- Taylor Mays - Southern California

- The Eagles need a playmaking safety to fill the hole left by Dawkins. Mays solidified his draft position with an impressive combine performance.

25. Baltimore Ravens- WR- Golden Tate- Notre Dame

- Tate has skills and surprised a lot of people with his 40 time. Tate’s speed was in question and now that the question is answered his production at Notre Dame will stick out more.

26. Arizona Cardinals- LB/DE- Brandon Graham- Michigan

- Graham has benefited from the draft process and will provide the Cardinals with a pass rushing presence.

27. Dallas Cowboys- CB- Kyle Wilson- Boise State

- You could never have enough depth at the cornerback position. Wilson is a good corner that has slipped a few spots by not working out at the combine.

28. San Diego Chargers- RB- Ryan Matthews- Fresno State

- Both Sproles and Tomlinson are gone and the Chargers need to fill that void. Ryan Matthews can carry the load and provide an immediate impact.

29. New York Jets- WR- Arreloius Benn- Illinois

- Mark Sanchez needs weapons and Benn could provide him with a solid option.

30. Minnesota Vikings- DT- Brian Price- UCLA

- The Vikings are in a place to take the best player and Price is that player. He also provides insurance in case the Williams Wall is suspended.

31. Indianapolis Colts- LB- Sean Witherspoon- Missouri

- If Gary Brackett moves on they will need a replacement. Even if Bracket is retained they could use a playmaking linebacker like Witherspoon.

32. New Orleans Saints- DE- Carlos Dunlap- Florida

- New Orleans needs to generate a better pass rush from its front four and Dunlap has unlimited potential. He slips to the end of this round because of character issues.
