The Reds will be one of the last Cactus League teams to open play, playing one more intrasquad game today before taking on the Indians Friday. Thursday’s contest marked the Reds uniform debut of Cuban lefthander Aroldis Chapman, and they might end up wishing they’d waited until he could pitch to another team.
Aroldis Chapman Knocks Teammate Todd Frazier Out Of Intrasquad Game
↵John Fay is reporting Chapman hit teammate Todd Frazier on the right knee with a pitch in his first inning of work, causing Frazier to go down in pain and need to be helped off.
↵Fay estimates that Chapman might be throwing in the high 90’s, and speculates that he could hit 100 at times this season. If he can control his stuff, he could be a critical asset for the Reds this season. If he can’t, Frazier might not be his last casualty.
