Likely lottery pick Al-Farouq Aminu has declared for the NBA Draft, according to Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports. The Wake Forest sophomore has reportedly signed with an agent, ending any chance that he could return to school.
Wake Forest’s Al-Farouq Aminu Enters NBA Draft
The 6’9”, 210-pound Aminu averaged 15.8 points and an ACC-leading 10.7 rebounds per game, anchoring a Wake Forest team that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a 9-seed, before getting blown out by Kentucky. Aminu’s length, athleticism and emerging face-up game garner comparisons to the NBA’s Josh Smith, where Aminu figures to be the same type of versatile power forward. ESPN’s Chad Ford currently ranks Aminu as the 6th-best prospect in the 2010 draft, while Draft Express has him 5th and NBADraft.net lists him 7th.
The biggest negatives on Aminu are that he needs to add muscle to his frame and develop more of a one-on-one game.
