Phoenix Post Race Observations

I know this is a little late, but I wanted to leave the Ricky Byers story up another day - did you donate?

Anyway here are a few observations from Saturday’s race:

1) I agree with DW in that the front splitter on Dale Jr’s car did play a role in the handling of the car.

2) I think Hamlin should have got out of the car, especially when they changed the battery and went two laps down. No one would have thought any less of him.

3) Montoya runs awesome at flat tracks - I’m picking him for Indy this year.

4) Kyle Busch is the best driver at re-starts than anyone else out there.

5) McMurray’s team did an awesome job getting that car back to where it needed to be to finish the race.

6) Robby Gordon finally had a good run, or at least a better one than he’s had recently.

7) I dislike Digger, no really I do.

8) Another race that had a caution flag with less than 10 laps left. Man.

9) Ky Busch goes from a 2.5 second lead to also ran with 3 laps left because of the caution flag and finishes 8th.

10) Speaking of which Scott Riggs was having a pretty good run until he cut a tire and brought out the last caution flag.

11) I would have gone with 2 tires for sure! Not 4 at this track, its too flat. All you have to do is stay low and keep under the leader and make him drive around you which is hard to do at this track. I might have also opted to stay out and not get any tires

12) Good to see Newman win, too bad I missed the victory lane interview as TSN went to Sports Centre while Newman was doing his burnout.

13) Hard to believe that the #39 has never won a race in over 60 years of NASCAR history.

14) Gordon spins the tires on the retart. Trying too hard!

OK, I’m outta here. Talk to you tomorrow. I just might have my contest up by Thursday too! Legal just got a hold of me today so I might have that Dale Jr contest up and running by the end of the weekend.
