Looking at this game from the perspective of the Philadelphia Flyers, they have to be disappointed that they only scored two power play goals. I say that because they had seven chances on the power play against a team that is usually very disciplined with their penalties, they were third in the league during the regular season with 10.5 PIM/Game.
Flyers Inability To Convert Power Plays Cost Them Game Two
Ben Rothenberg from Broad Street Hockey agrees with that sentiment as well:
There are plenty of reasons the Flyers lost, but the biggest is almost certainly their lack of success on the power play. The Devils were a man down seven times, a hugely uncharacteristic number, but the Flyers only cashed in twice, and negated one of those with a shorthanded goal against. Hartnell has definitely overstayed his welcome on that unit, whereas Pronger’s new presence down in the slot is amazingly awesome and should be continued.
Whether the Flyers can capitalize in Game Three is yet to be seen, but they need to find some of that swagger back from Game One.
