Jose Theodore Is Jose Therrible

José Théodore was pulled from the second game of the Habs-Caps series after just 7:58 of play. He faced just two shots on goal. Slight problem: he let both of those shots in. 2-0 Canadiens right off the bat, and away goes Théo.

↵That means the embattled goaler had a save percentage of .000 for the game, which at the very least ties the record for worst playoff performance in the net. And if Montreal hangs onto the lead--hardly a sure thing; as the old maxim goes, a two-goal lead is the toughest lead to keep in hockey--it’ll push Theodore’s playoff record to 19-29. Oh, and it’ll also put top-seeded Washington in a 2-game hole en route to Montreal, and do not even pretend you saw that coming, because you didn’t.

↵Here at SBNation.com, we’re struggling to come up with why, exactly, Théodore would turn in a “performance” like this when the Caps needed him to be, well, certainly better than that. Here are the potential reasons we came up with:

↵Wanted a valid reason to listen to that “So you had a bad day” song by Daniel Powter that is now in your head you’re welcome

↵Sudden onset of crippling puckaphobia

↵Was secretly kept on Montreal’s payroll even after being shipped to Colorado four years ago, lying in wait to strike as a double agent when the franchise needed him the most

↵Will do anything to get friend and fellow Caps goaler Semyon Varmalov onto the ice

↵Likes the view of action from the bench way better than from the goal

↵Does not know the rules of hockey
