Just when it appeared that Bill Self and the University of Kansas had severely underachieved with their 2010 recruiting class, they suddenly reeled in the biggest fish they could find.
Your Move, Big 12: Mega-Recruit Josh Selby Commits To Kansas
Point guard Josh Selby, the top unsigned high school basketball player in the country, has decided to become a Jayhawk.
Selby, who played at Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore, picked the Jayhawks over a list of suitors that included Kentucky, UConn, Arizona and Tennessee.
“I think that’s the best place for me to mature and get to the next level,” Selby said.
As for the rest of the Big 12, they'll have to deal with yet another future lottery pick for the second consecutive season, after freshman phenom Xavier Henry left Lawrence to enter the NBA draft. At the same time, though, there is a host of talented incoming freshmen that could make an immediate impact on the conference, such as Texas' Tristan Thompson, Baylor's Perry Jones, and Mizzou's Tony Mitchell.
In other news, the Kentucky Wildcats moved one step closer to replacing the the mass amount of NBA talent lost from last year's team by signing shooting guard Doron Lamb.
Shooting guard Doron Lamb, one of the top 30 prospects in the nation, announced his decision to attend Kentucky. Lamb picked UK over a list of schools that included Arizona, West Virginia, Kansas, Oklahoma and UConn.
“I love the coaching staff,” Lamb said. “I think next year we’re going to be a team to beat.”
Lamb will join point guard Brandon Knight in Lexington, where the Wildcats are expected to roll out yet another freshman-dominated back court.
