Sabres’ Thomas Vanek Doubtful For Game 3 In Boston

Thomas Vanek's injury may not be as bad as initially suggested for the Buffalo Sabres. While the left winger is expected to miss game 3 against the Boston Bruins, he has not shut the door on returning before the series concludes.

The Austrian slid heavily into the boards during game 2 after a slash from Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk. Unable to place any weight on his left foot, it was a depressing image for Sabres supporters having to watch their top goal-scorer limp off the ice.

With Jochen Hecht and Drew Stafford already sidelined, head coach Lindy Ruff needs all hands on deck Monday evening.
