↵“Although he’s a black belt, I saw his fights three-four years ago, and his ground game really didn’t look too good to me,” Faber said. “So he’s pretty new to the ground game. You can accomplish a lot in three years, but I’ve been doing the grappling thing for 16-17 years.”
Urijah Faber Questions Jose Aldo’s Ground Game
↵↵- Urijah Faber talks Jose Aldo
↵Faber is right that you can accomplish a lot in three years. All the talk is that Aldo’s gound game is much better than people give him credit for. Add to that the fact that the much bigger and stronger Mike Thomas Brown had no success attempting to get Aldo to the ground.
↵Faber is going to have to wade through Aldo’s explosive striking and manage to grab on and get him to the ground, which Brown was unable to do. And if that doesn’t work he has to try to outpace Aldo and get into the deeper rounds where he has more experience and hope that Aldo fades.
↵It’s an incredibly risky fight for Faber and one can only hope he’s taking it seriously.
