Since 1998, the Louisville Cardinal football team has played within the comfy, delicious confines of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Stocked with many a Papa John’s pizza station, Cardinal fans are never too far from a four-cheese monolith of fried goodness. If there’s anything the basketball team’s longtime home, historic Freedom Hall, lacked, it was that same overwhelming encroachment of greasy, disgusting fast food.

↵Yum! Brands, which once said it wasn’t interested in the naming rights, has agreed to a $13.5 million, 10-year contract to be the building’s main sponsor, the company and the Louisville Arena Authority announced Monday.
↵As part of the deal, the Louisville-based restaurant company will have seven concession areas for KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell inside the arena at Second and Main streets, as well as advertising inside and outside the building and the roof.

↵Some folks are hoping to nickname the building “The Bucket.” And they hope they just don’t die of congestive heart failure before it catches on.
