It was a light schedule on Monday, highlighted by Ike Davis's major league debut as the Mets starting first baseman. I drafted Davis in the UBA minor league draft, but did not expect him to be called up this soon. I was thinking maybe June-July timeframe, but the Mets fans have been clamoring for his call-up for two weeks now.

Here are my thoughts after reviewing Monday’s boxscores:
The Red Sox lost their 5th straight game, and got swept by division rival Rays. They are now 4-9 on the season and 1-6 at home. Starter John Lackey apparently doesn't like pitching at 11 AM as he gave up 8 runs on 9 hits and a walk in 3 1/3rd innings.
Rays outfielder Ben Zobrist was 0-5 with an RBI and is now hitting .245-.298-.377, a far cry from his breakout 2009 season. How soon before he gets hot, or was 2009 a fluke?
Red Sox DH David Ortiz was 0-3 with a walk, and is hitting WAY under the Mendoza line at .158-.238-.289. WOW. Tim Lincecum is hitting better than Ortiz is at this point.
Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow held the Rpyals to one run in 7 innings of work, striking out 8 and walking two. It was his first win of the season, and his ERA is still over 7.
All Ivan Rodriguez does is hit. He had two more hits on Monday and is now hitting .450-.488-.625 on the season. The Nats beat the Rockies and are now over .500 for the first time in a long while. This team could surprise some teams this season.
Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki had two hits on Monday and is hitting .269-.304-.346 on the season. He has yet to homer this season, and has just 6 RBIs. Its early.
Mets rookie first baseman Ike Davis went 2-4 with an RBI in his major league debut. He batted 6th in the Mets lineup and figures to play everyday, at least until Daniel Murphy returns from the DL. But Davis has alot more power than Murphy, so I think he can keep the job.
Cubs catcher Geovany Soto was 0-2 with a run scored and two walks on Monday. He currently has more walks than strikeouts in the early going, and his OBP is .459.
Mets reliever Jennry Mejia threw two shutout innings against the Cubs. He recorded two strikeouts and four groundball outs. Could he replace Francisco Rodriguez as the Mets closer in 2012?
The Diamondbacks put outfielder Conor Jackson on the 15-day DL with a strained hamstring. Gerardo Parra will get the bulk of the starts in left field in his absence.
Phillies closer Brad Lidge pitched for the second consecutive day, and threw a scoreless inning for the second consecutive day, striking out one and inducing two groundball outs. He will move to AA Reading this week.
