Rehabbing Mariner ace Cliff Lee, who was initially suspended five games for throwing at Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder during spring training, appealed successfully and has had his suspension dropped. And on top of that, he's had his fine dropped as well. Lee no longer faces any penalty for a fastball that sailed too close to another player's head.

The reason? Given that it was early in spring and that Lee was pitching through injury, Major League Baseball determined there wasn’t enough evidence that Lee’s act was intentional. Lee had been struggling with his command even before the incident, so it’s not an unreasonable decision.
Lee is currently recovering from an abdominal strain. He is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Tuesday, make a minor league rehab appearance on April 25th, and - if all goes well - he'll likely make his regular season debut at home on May 2nd against the Rangers.
