Dave Trembley Is The First To Crack In Baltimore

Baltimore Orioles manager Dave Trembley hasn’t had a lot of fun watching his team slide deep into last place with the worst record in baseball. He’s so fed up, as a matter of fact, that we can apparently bid farewell to the Mr. Nice Guy act.

↵↵“I’ve been in a position where I’m a really nice fella and I’ll cover. I’ll get questions point blank and I feel like I’m a damn presidential press secretary sometimes instead of telling it what is it. I have to smooth it over,” Trembley said. “I’m not smoothing it over anymore.”

“I’m not going to let things continue to slide and say it’s OK. ... I’m tired of that.”

↵↵Trembley spoke to the press Wednesday after holding a closed-door meeting with his team. Unfortunately, the timing for Trembley’s attempt to rally the troops was pretty poor, as it came just hours before facing Felix Hernandez. To make matters worse, the Orioles - whom Felix went on to beat - now prepare for 16 consecutive games against the Red Sox, Yankees, and Twins.

↵One wonders, though, if Trembley will even live to witness that stretch of games firsthand. The O’s are off on Thursday, making it a prime opportunity for the organization to fire the 2-14 team’s manager. In the unlikely but possible event that Trembley does get sacked on Thursday, his final move as Orioles manager will have been pinch-hitting Nolan Reimold for Justin Turner against Felix on Wednesday. Reimold struck out.
