Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Ryan Miller stopped 34-of-35 shots and Jason Pominville registered a goal and one assist as Buffalo stayed alive with a 4-1 decision over Boston in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal set from HSBC Arena.

Adam Mair, Mike Grier and Tyler Ennis also tallied for the Sabres, who faced a 3-1 series deficit coming in and staved off elimination without the services of forward Thomas Vanek, lost since Game 2 with a high ankle sprain.

Johnny Boychuk scored the lone goal for the Bruins, who had taken the previous two games on home ice and return to Boston for Game 6 on Monday with another chance to close out the series.

Tuukka Rask allowed three goals on 32 shots in the loss
