“It was tough to give up the lead there, but I think it showed a lot of heart that we came back,” Konerko said. “It would have been very easy to give up in that game the way things have been going. So it’s a good sign.”
Thornton and League kept the score that way heading into the home ninth, when Lowe took the mound. He retired the first two batters before getting into a lengthy battle with Jones. Lowe hung a breaking ball inside on the ninth pitch of the at-bat, and Jones hammered it over the left field wall to end the game.
