Apparently no one told Raiders owner Al Davis that the draft didn't start on Saturday this year.
Al Davis, thinking NFL Draft started today, takes athletic freaks
The Raiders made measured picks, selecting Rolando McClain, Lamarr Houston and Jared Veldheer.
Then, Al Davis woke up. Imagine Davis’ surprise when he found out the draft actually started two days ago and his team was making picks.
Imagine the rage that spewed forth.
“No one freakin’ told me the draft started two days ago? Come on, baby,” he probably yelled. “Is HE still there? Tell me HE is still there!”
That HE was Maryland offensive tackle Bruce Campbell. A physical marvel who is likely a couple of years away from seeing the field in the NFL.
You knew Al Davis wanted Campbell. You may have even mocked it in your first-round mock draft. Hell, Al Davis may have mocked him in his first round.
But finally Al Davis realized the draft was going and he got his guy. Congratulations Al Davis. Now for the sake of weary Raiders fans, go back to bed.
Update: Davis traded a fifth-round pick and starting linebacker Kirk Morrison to Jacksonville. He took track star Jacoby Ford of Clemson. I love you Al Davis. You’re my most favoritest owner, like, ever.
