2010 NFL Draft: Bengals Building Up The Defense

The Bengals spent two picks in the fourth round on defensive players.

SB Nation’s Cincy Jungle breaks ‘em down.

First, Georgia DT Geno Atkins:

Of the team’s first four picks, two have come on the defensive line with Carlos Dunlap selected in the second round on Friday. Cincinnati’s effort to (somewhat) rebuild the team’s defensive front was expected due to questions across the board in terms of injuries and depth. Good selection.

And Texas LB Roddrick Muckelroy:

Cincinnati’s need at linebacker was slightly debatable. If anything, the team addressing linebacker was a necessity for the future with several of the team’s top linebackers up for free agency after the 2010 season. ESPN ranks Muckelroy with many traits above average to exceptional, such as his instincts. ESPN ranked him as the seventh best inside linebacker coming into the draft.
