Phoenix 5, Detroit 2: Coyotes Run Over Wings, Send Series To Decisive Game 7

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Mathieu Schneider, Radim Vrbata and Wojtek Wolski tallied during a second-period burst, as Phoenix staved off elimination and forced a series-deciding contest by dominating Detroit, 5-2, in Game 6 of their Western Conference quarterfinal matchup from Joe Louis Arena.

Lauri Korpikoski and Taylor Pyatt also lit the lamp for the Coyotes, who return home for Game 7 on Tuesday having won two of three games in this series on the road.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 31-of-33 shots for Phoenix, which scored three times with the man advantage and once while shorthanded to claim victory.

Brad Stuart and Darren Helm scored for the Red Wings, who could have wrapped up the set with a win but instead will face their second straight Game 7 and third in their last four playoff series.

Detroit dropped the final contest of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals to Pittsburgh, and also were taken to a seventh game in the conference semifinals by Anaheim before advancing.

Jimmy Howard struggled in defeat, allowing all five goals on 29 shots.
