The Ernie Kent era at Oregon was up-and-down, with four of the past seven seasons ending with winning records, and only the 2007 year was great (a 29-7 mark). Enter new head coach Dana Altman, the anti-Ernie Kent. Altman brings a steady hand to Eugene, with seven of the last eight years with twenty wins or more at Creighton, and zero losing seasons. Oregon tried to throw gobs of money to land big time coaches such as Tom Izzo from Michigan State, but while the Dana Altman hire is not at all flashy, they do get a proven winner to help raise the profile of Oregon basketball.
