↵“If Randy Couture want it, he can get it! It ain’t no thang to me. It ain’t no thing but a chicken wing. All Randy gotta do is sign the contract and he getting knocked out too! I ain’t playing with him... Everybody thinks this is a goddamn game, but this ain’t no game for me! I’m going to be ready! Whatever he wants to do, we can do. If he stands up with me, he’s getting knocked out and if he takes me to the ground, he’s still getting knocked out.”
James Toney Claims He Is Ready To Knock Out Randy Couture
↵It is extremely hard for me to see any way in which Randy Couture loses to James Toney. I don’t see Couture working from the outside and getting into boxing exchanges and Toney’s style is one of shoulder rolling defensive maneuvering. In MMA that just leaves you open for takedowns, leg kicks and getting clinched. Couture has the ability to outwork Toney in the clinch and he absolutely should be able to take him down at will.
↵It takes a long time to learn the grappling aspects of MMA. For Couture they’re built in now. They’re a part of his muscle memory. Toney is just starting to learn them. It’s just not a fight that I can see Randy losing other than getting knocked out, which Toney is not exactly the world’s biggest power puncher.
