↵According to sources in the cable industry, early estimates indicate that the show did between 150,000 and 200,000 buys on pay per view, a number that has to be considered a resounding success internally. Bryan Alvarez has the same report in today’s Figure Four Weekly.
Early WEC PPV Buys Look Very Positive

↵This would be a huge win for Zuffa (not so much the WEC) as when it was first announced most experts pegged the show to be good for maybe 50-75,000 buys. The branding, or rather un-branding, of the show from a WEC event to a boxing style promotion of Aldo vs. Faber presented by the UFC no doubt had much to do with that.
↵But let’s also be realistic that Dana White as the promoter had a good amount to do with this show’s success. For all the good Reed Harris has done in his time with the WEC he doesn’t have the promotional savvy nor is he familiar enough with the general public to have sold the show as well as Dana White did.
