Hall of Fame Broadcaster Bob Uecker To Have Heart Surgery, Miss 10-12 Weeks
↵Uecker, 75, has been calling Brewer games on the radio for 40 of the team’s 41 seasons in Milwaukee, starting in 1971. Nationally, he’s possibly better known for his appearances alongside Johnny Carson on “The Tonight Show,” his work on “Mr. Belvedere” and his role as broadcaster Harry Doyle in “Major League.”
↵More details are expected to be released at a 3:30 pm CST press conference Tuesday, but the team says Uecker is expected to miss 10-12 weeks. Cory Provus, who has been working with Uecker since the start of the 2009 season, will be the Brewers’ primary play-by-play man in Uecker’s absence, with TV sideline reporter Davey Nelson joining him on commentary, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
