Forearm Strain Likely Not Serious, But Brett Anderson Still Going On The DL

Brett Anderson downplayed the injury that knocked him out of a start last Saturday, calling it “more like a cramp than anything else.” However, even though the injury is believed to be fairly minor, Anderson’s still going to go on the shelf:

Brett Anderson to go on dl with forearm strain. Landon Powell called up and in the lineup.

Anderson will have a contrast MRI done on his elbow in the near future to give the team a better idea of his condition, and when he’ll be able to return. In the meantime, the A’s will have to get by without one of their only starting pitchers to throw consistent strikes in the early going. Dallas Braden has put up an excellent April, but Ben Sheets, Justin Duchscherer, and Gio Gonzalez have combined for 35 walks and 46 strikeouts in 69.2 innings.
