Days after being eliminated from the first round of the postseason, the Buffalo Sabres have picked up the one-year option on head coach Lindy Ruff's contract. With his job secure, he will sit behind the organization's bench for a 13th season in 2011, as minority owner Larry Quinn announced during a news conference on Thursday.

Ruff, the holder of a 483-389-122 record, is Buffalo’s highest winning coach and ranked 17 among all NHL bench bosses. As the league’s leader among coaches with the same club, 154 coaching changes have occurred during his reign with the Sabres.
