Steve Alford And New Mexico Agree On Ten Year Extension

After three season, New Mexico has decided they like what they see from their head basketball coach, Steve Alford. A lot. Alford and the university agreed today on a ten year extension, according to ESPN’s Andy Katz:

Steve Alford just sent out a text that he got a new 10 year deal with the Lobos.

In Alford’s tenure with the Lobos he has gone 76-26. He has also led New Mexico to two Mountain West Conference regular season titles and one NCAA tournament berth. The Lobos were a three seed in this year’s tournament, but were knocked out in the second round by Washington. Previously, Alford was the head coach at Iowa for eight seasons between 1999-2007.
