2010 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: Pick 38

The second round of the 2010 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft rolls along. We're having each SB Nation blogger make selections for their respective teams. Chris Pokorny, lead blogger at SB Nation's Cleveland Browns blog, Dawgs By Nature, checks in to make the No. 38 overall selection in this year's mock. Take it away, sir!

With the No. 38 overall pick in the 2010 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns have selected Colt McCoy, QB, Texas.

Chris Pokorny says: After taking safety Eric Berry in the first round, there was only one quarterback that interested me in the second round: Colt McCoy. I was worried that the Washington Redskins might attempt to draft him in front of me, but after the trade for Donovan McNabb, I was able to move forward with a game plan to remove the thought of having to go through two years of either Jake Delhomme or Seneca Wallace under center.

Ideally, it'd be better for the Browns to trade down a little bit in round two and still get McCoy, something I see as a real possibility considering how much the front office covets additional draft picks. If there aren't any suitors when the Browns are on the clock though, McCoy is an acceptable option considering the moves the team has made on defense through free agency. McCoy's accuracy would be long-awaited in Cleveland after the near-50 percent completion rates for Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn. His arm strength has been criticized, but he had an impressive showing at his Pro Day.

Mocking Dan reacts: It’s clear the Browns need a young quarterback While I like McCoy – and Mike Holmgren may as well – there are too many quality players still available to take a developmental talent. There are some good wide receivers still available, and Dwyer would be a good fit. There are also some great pieces that could be added to the defensive line. It’s hard to disagree with the pick of McCoy, but what really sets him apart from a quarterback that could be had in the third?
Mocking the Draft’s Top 5 remaining prospects: 1 - Bruce Campbell/OT/Maryland, 2 - Jonathan Dwyer/RB/Georgia Tech, 3 - Damian Williams/WR/USC, 4 - Rob Gronkowski/TE/Arizona, 5 - Brandon Spikes/LB/Florida
Sound off, SB Nation! What say you of the Browns’ selection of McCoy? Please be sure to check out Dawgs By Nature for all of your Browns needs.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
