Seeing Jason Heyward’s home run was one thing, but the experience of the blast was a whole ‘nother thing:
Jason Heyward’s Home Run Drove Crowd ‘Absolutely Nuts’
That homerun was a no-doubter. The Cubs right fielder trotted respectfully towards the right field wall without even looking up. The crowd went absolutely nuts, and when I say absolutely nuts, I mean people were jumping all around, high-fiving everyone within reach. It was like that homerun had won the World Series or something, people were hysterically exuberant. It was an amazing moment for Jason Heyward, and an amazing moment for anyone who was there.
Heyward’s home run measured up at 433 feet, the second-longest home run of the young MLB season. (If you’re keeping track at home, Curtis Granderson’s Opening Night blast is the longest home run so far.) The speed of the ball off the bat clocked in at 110.5 MPH, which already stands out when compared to Atlanta home runs from 2009:
