Sleeper/ Steal Alert
Sleeper of the Week: Taylor Price
Every year the NFL Draft is littered with Busts and Steals/Sleepers. Steals/Sleepers are what make a team’s draft special and build decision makers reputations. Some of the more famous Steals/Sleepers include Tom Brady (round 6 pick 199), Terrell Davis (round 6 pick 196), and Zach Thomas (round 5 pick 154). But a Steal/Sleeper doesn’t necessarily have to be drafted in the later rounds. An example would be the Green Bay Packers getting Clay Matthews at pick 26 after players like Larry English were selected. Matthews earned a spot on the NFC Pro Bowl after registering 10 sacks in his rookie season.
We are going to pick a Sleeper of the Week and review what makes this player a potential sleeper and what teams might be interested.
Player: Taylor Price- WR- Ohio
Projected Rounds: 3rd- 4th rounds
Thoughts: Taylor Price has utilized the draft process to raise his draft stock and put himself on team radar’s. While at Ohio University Price was a consistent performer gaining experience since his freshman season. Price led his team last season with 56 receptions for 784 yards and 5 touchdowns. Price’s numbers are affected by the lack of passing attach for Ohio University. During the Senior Bowl, Price showed good hands and the ability to run pro style routes. He followed up his strong Senior Bowl performance with a good combine, running a solid 4.40 40 yard dash time. Price can be a nice addition to team coming off the board somewhere in the 3rd to 4th round range.
