Sure, Robinson Cano may have hit a solo home run in the 9th inning to make this inconsequential, but I’m telling you the Boston media would have been all over this one in the morning had this stayed a one-run game:
Hideki Okajima Gets Squeezed Just A Little Bit, Yankees Don’t Mind

↵What is this exactly? It’s the at-bat between Red Sox reliever Hideki Okajima and Yankees designated hitter Nick Johnson in the 8th inning. Okajima walked Johnson with the bases loaded to give the Yankees the 5-4 lead.
↵As you can tell by the graph, it’s five pitches, four balls and a walk. Or, to be accurate, it’s five pitches, four strikes and a strikeout. But apparently home plate umpire Angel Hernandez didn’t quite see it that way.
↵But hey, the umpires have to work off the post-spring training rust, too, right?
