Texas’ Avery Bradley Declares For NBA Draft, Won’t Sign With Agent

After a bumpy 2010 season that saw Texas plummet from No. 1 in the country to a No. 8 seed in the NCAA tournament, the Longhorns 2011 season may already be off to a rocky start. According to Fox Sports’ Jeff Goodman, freshman guard Avery Bradley will declare for the NBA Draft, although he will not sign with an agent, leaving open the possibility that he could return to school.

The 6’3”, 180-pound Bradley figures to be a mid-to late first-round pick in this year’s draft. ESPN’s Chad Ford ranks him as the 21st-best prospect in the 2010 draft, while Draft Express ranks him 28th and NBADraft.net has him going 25th. Bradley’s explosive scoring and lockdown defense make him an enticing prospect, although scouts have fitted the dreaded “combo” guard label on him, meaning that he’s an undersized two-guard who might have to transition to being a lead guard in the pros.

Bradley averaged 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Longhorns in his rookie campaign.
