Video: Ryan Miller Defies The Odds For Buffalo

Flashback over three years ago when Ryan Miller denied Bruins defenseman Paul Mara from a seemingly empty net, on a 3-on-1 break, with an unbelievable stick save. Surely thinking he had an easy goal, Mara could not believe his eyes nor could the rest of the Boston team.

↵Now fast forward to Apr.6, 2010, as Buffalo hosted a desperate New York Rangers side struggling for a playoff appearance. Leading by a goal, the Sabres turned the puck over which created a 4-on-1 rush the other way.

↵

↵While those are bad odds for a typical goaltender, Miller displayed the technique and poise that should earn him a Vezina Trophy at the end of the season. Head coach Lindy Ruff stressed the importance of the stop in his post-game interview.

↵Via NHL.com:

↵↵“That was one for the books,” Ruff said. “That was an absolutely fabulous save. I think our guys built momentum off of that and we really went after them.”

↵↵Pardon my correction, but Ryan Miller’s whole year has been one for the books.
