From our so ridiculous it has to be true file comes this wonderful gem. Jeff Suppan, the Brewers $12 million dollar man, was recently delayed in his return from the DL due to some persisting pain in his neck. What could have caused that nagging neck pain you ask? Big League Stew has apparently cracked the case:
Someone Get Jeff Suppan To Bed, Bath & Beyond
↵↵In news that’s almost too unbelievable to be true, Suppan told reporters on Wednesday that his recovery from a stiff neck - which landed him on the 15-day DL to start the regular season - was hindered in late March.
↵OnMilwaukee.com/television reporter Drew Olson shed more light on the reason for the delay during Wednesday’s Rockies-Brewers game:
↵“Suppan told us before the game that his neck was stiff in spring training,” Olson said. “The condo he was staying at had really bad pillows and he had to sleep on a rolled-up towel.”
↵Yes, a rolled-up towel. The same sleeping aid that Jim Anchower might use.
↵↵Really? A towel? You make $12 million a year and you can’t have someone get you a decent pillow? In all of my years I have had to sleep in some pretty unfortunate places and somehow I’ve always managed to lay my head down on something a bit more comfortable than a rolled-up towel.
↵Luckily for us this story has a happy ending:
↵↵Olson finished his anecdote, adding that Suppan is “now back to sleeping on pillows and getting his adequate rest.”
↵↵Being a professional baseball player sure ain’t easy living...
