The Pittsburgh Penguins final regular season game at Mellon Arena was a 7-3 victory over the New York Islanders. Sidney Crosby scored his 50th goal of the season and 500th career point.
Pittsburgh Shuts Down Mellon Arena In Style
Thursday night is the final home game for Mellon Arena, lovingly known as the Igloo, as the Penguins will be opening the Consol Energy Center in September of 2010. Crosby, the 22-year-old Pens captain, reached the 50-goal mark for the first time and also eclipsed the 500-point mark for his career. He has recorded five goals and 10 assists in his last six games for 104 total points this season.
