↵Lightweight Caol Uno has been released by the UFC. MMA Fighting learned of the news from sources close to the situation Friday.
The Japanese fighter went 0-2-1 since returning to the UFC in June 2009. He most recently lost via first-round TKO to Gleison Tibau at UFN 21 in March.
Caol Uno and Lucio Linhares Released From UFC

↵Uno joins Lucio Linhares as fighters who were cut following UFN 21 losses. Caol is a talented and fun fighter but he just has not looked up to the UFC caliber in his most recent run and some time fighting in DREAM or Sengoku may do him some good as he gets his legs back under him.
↵As for Linhares, he is exactly the kind of guy who could benefit from a trip to the middleweight tournament for season 3 of Bellator. He’s got some upside but he was way out of his depth in the UFC. The beating that Yushin Okami put on him was almost shockingly brutal. A promotion like Bellator is exactly the right place for him to go.
