On Day 2 of the Masters, Italy’s Matteo Manassero shot 4-over, but his overall 3-over for the tournament was good enough for him to make the cut. Here’s the thing: Manassero is only 16 years old. SB Nation’s golf blog, Waggle Room, has more:
Matteo Manassero: The Youngest Player Ever To Make A Masters Cut
At 16 years, 355 days old, Italian phenom and British Amateur champion Matteo Manassero has become the youngest player to make the cut at the Masters. He did so on the number at +3 147 through 36 holes.
When first asked if how he felt about making the cut, he didn’t want to jinx it, reluctant to answer a reporter’s question about making the cut. After being sure that he had made the cut, he said he had the goal of finishing the opening two rounds within ten shots of the lead. He missed that goal by a shot, but made the cut and will win low amateur as a result.
