Following Montreal’s fairy-tale-slaughtering 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 1 yesterday, the Canadiens bandwagon broke down. And caught fire. Habs fans pointed out exactly that in emails to Hockey Night in Canada, much to Don Cherry’s chagrin:

↵One could take the viewpoint that Cherry’s just being a defensive old codger who’s out of touch with the modern media landscape or whatever, and there’s a sliver of truth to that. But really, he’s just holding his program and network to a high standard, and he’s right: there really wasn’t much reason to read those emails on the air, was there? Was there any editorial merit to any of them? We are all dumber, no points, God mercy soul etc. etc.
↵Also, being browbeaten over intellectual heft by someone who’s apparently wearing the skin of 15 dead penguins is all sorts of amusing.
