Editor’s note: Jokes about slip-ups with the word “disk” follow and things get a little bit adult.

The Bulging Disk: Dangerous For Broadcasters, Too

↵↵Maturity seems overrated at the moment because I spent at least 10 minutes or so watching clips of people having excellent verbal missteps when describing Tiger Woods’ bulging disk that caused an early exit at The Players Championship. Try saying the injury out loud. It’s not that tough to make a mistake and say something a little more adult-themed, and given Tiger Woods’ recent history, it wouldn’t be that hard to have that subject on the brain. With that, we give you two excellent mistakes from broadcasters.↵
↵↵First up, Win McMurry of The Golf Channel: ↵
↵
↵
↵
↵Oops! At least she wasn’t alone. Take it away, unnamed news man:↵
↵
↵
↵This mistake is not without precedent and has even undone those at the top of their game. CNBC’s Darren Rovell brought up ESPN’s Steve Levy on Sunday. Unfamiliar with Levy’s memorable on-air faux pas? Let’s go to the video tape!↵
↵
↵
↵Yes, the mistake was so memorable, it was even lampooned on the ABC show Sports Night:↵
↵
↵
↵So McMurry and our unnamed local news man shouldn’t feel bad today. They’ve joined esteemed company with their verbal shot into the hazard.↵
