UPDATE: Sami Salo is in fact playing in Game 6 on Tuesday evening, and as the game began, Vancouver Canucks fans heralded him with “[testicles] of Steel!” chants.
Canucks’ Sami Salo Plays Game 6, Fans Chant That He’s Made Of Steel
Sami Salo’s picture should be placed in the dictionary beneath the word “courage” if he plays for the Vancouver Canucks in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals. As it stands, he is a game-time decision for Tuesday’s match. Two days ago, the defenseman took a slap shot to the spot of all spots during the first period in Chicago and was taken to a nearby hospital quickly.
It was assumed that Salo had a ruptured testicle, but thankfully, it didn’t amount to that and the Finn was involved in Vancouver’s pre-game skate this morning. With the Canucks down 3-2 in the series and looking to shove off elimination again, Salo’s presence would factor in heavily, especially on the power play.
