New York Media One-Ups Itself In Pursuit of LeBron

One day after the New York media made it clear that it wasn’t too proud to beg for LeBron James, it proved that it’s also not to proud to insult an entire city through a URL. Well, at least that’s the case at the New York Daily News.↵↵First, the article in question:↵

↵

↵↵

↵↵And then the not-so-subtle dig at Cleveland in the permalink URL:↵

↵

↵↵

↵↵In case that’s too small to read, it says “Go To Hell Isn’t It Just Like Cleveland C’mon LeBron Ditch That Dump.” Manipulating permalink URLs for search optimization purposes isn’t unusual, but insulting people? That’s a new one, New York Daily News. I fired over a message to Frank Isola, the writer of the story, but I’ve yet to hear back.↵

↵↵NBA fans smell your desperation, New Yorkers. But then again it’s understandable when you’re about to answer this Craigslist ad in a few months. ↵

↵

↵UPDATE from SB Nation:↵

↵↵⇥UPDATE: Isola himself tells SB Nation that the permalink was the headline (“Go To Hell? Isn’t It Just Like Cleveland?”) and subhead (“C’mon Dude, Ditch That Dump!”) in today’s print edition of the New York Daily News, which we later confirmed. Apparently, the permalink is automatically generated by the print headline unless someone manually overrides it. ↵⇥↵⇥In other words, that headline is out there in print. Wow.↵⇥
