Carlos Gomez Lands On The DL With A Strain In His Shoulder

Center fielder Carlos Gomez has been a find for the Brewers in the early going, the 24 year old having lifted his average from .229 a year ago to .276 through the season's first month. The team's going to have to get by without him for a little while, though, as a shoulder strain he suffered last Wednesday finally pushed him to the DL.

Gomez had an MRI on Friday and was put on the DL when he didn't make enough progress over the weekend. In his place, Jim Edmonds is expected to get a lot of playing time in center, although Jody Gerut should get some at bats of his own. Adam Stern - in his sixth season at AAA - is up strictly as a reserve.
