Visiting Team Has Better Chance Of Winning If They Survive First Ten Minutes

With two potential elimination games on the schedule for Wednesday night, at what point in the game does the home team have to start to worry. According to our own Mike Chen, roughly after ten minutes:

↵↵However, if you’ve withstood the barrage up to this point, that’s when two things happen: first, the attacking home team might get the sense that the visiting goalie is on his game, and that kind of psych-out can grow frustration; second, the home crowd gets a little drained, which usually leads to them quieting down and sapping some of the energy out of the building. To me, then, the critical marker in this is the second TV timeout following the ten-minute mark. If the visiting team has weathered the adrenaline storm up to this point, then the TV timeout allows everything to reset.

↵↵The Canadiens have to handle the Penguins while the Bruins are looking to finish the Flyers and both have a better chance of doing so if they keep it close early.
