Mat Latos One-Hits San Francisco; Padres Dominance of Giants Continues

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Mat Latos threw a one-hitter and drove in the game's only run, nearly single-handedly lifting the San Diego Padres to a 1-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

Latos (3-3) didn't walk a batter and struck out six in the victory, which completed the Padres' three-game sweep of the Giants. It was his first career shutout and complete game.

Latos has thrown back-to-back brilliant starts. Last Friday he struck out nine over eight shutout innings in a win over Houston, and bettered that outing Thursday, when he threw 106 pitches.

Latos was nearly matched by San Francisco's Jonathan Sanchez (2-3), who gave up one run on three hits and a walk in eight innings. He also struck out five for the Giants, who have lost five of six.

Eli Whiteside's sixth-inning infield single broke up Latos' perfect game.
