The fact that Bernie Carbo was a giant bag of crazy is nothing new. He’s already openly talked about playing games high during his career. Now Carbo is talking about his relationship with Keith Hernandez, a former teammate with the Cardinals during the 1979 and 1980 seasons -- among other topics -- during an Outside The Lines piece that will air Sunday on ESPN at 9 a.m. ET.↵
Bernie Carbo Wanted Keith Hernandez’s Arms Broken

↵↵The relationship went particularly bad when Hernandez named names when asked about his cocaine use. One of those names was Carbo’s. That led to Carbo wanting to have Hernandez’s arms broken back in 1985.↵
↵↵⇥“I knew some people, and I had $2,000, and I asked them to break his arms. He said, ‘We’ll do it in two or three years if you want it done, but we’re not going to do it today, Bernie. If we went and broke his legs today, or broke his arms, you don’t think they would understand that you are the one that had it done?’”↵↵↵Carbo, now reportedly clean and sober for 16 years, says he’d apologize to Hernandez for introducing him to the drug if he could speak with him today. Of course, to speak with him Carbo would probably have to nudge him and wake him up first.↵
