The long-rumored move of Laurent Blanc from Bordeaux to France’s head coaching position took another step on Sunday, with the former France international informing his club he would resign to accept the FFF’s invitation to take up the coaching reigns after the World Cup.

With the Laurent Blanc saga over, Bordeaux shifts its attention to finding the coach who can get les Girondins back into Europe. If Ligue 1’s recent manager of the year voting is any guide, Bordeaux is starting their search at the top of the managerial pool.
Those reports, per France Football, claim Bordeuax had been pursuing the likes of Jean Tigana, Eric Gerets and Roland Courbis, all of whom are not out of the running, some reportly demanding excessive wages.

Despite Bordeaux’s irritation about how former coach Laurent Blanc has moved from les Girondins to the French national team job, negotiations between the club and the federation moved quickly, and the former French international is now set to take over the job with Les Blues following the World Cup.
Earlier this week it was reported that Blanc would leave the club, with whom he had one year remaining on his contract, and accept an offer with France Football. While acknowledging the resignation, Bordeaux claimed they would want compensation for their contracted coach.

Laurent Blanc is now the former coach of Girondins de Bordeaux after Sunday’s announcement that the former French international would resign from the only club he’s managed to take the same position with the French national team after the World Cup.
The club announced toay that Blanc had notified them that he intends to leave and accept the invitation to join French Football, with the club saying they will negotiate with the federation over compensation for the one year Blanc has remaining on his contract:
