H.S. Baseball Player Forgets National Anthem Is Not a Bathroom Break

↵No Atlanta Braves were guilty of what is described in the story that follows. We think.↵↵The Bristol (Virginia) Herald-Courier has the story of a high school baseball player who decided to do something relatively idiotic before a high school baseball game: During the national anthem, he decided to unzip his pants and urinate on the field.↵
↵↵This is the part of the post where I’d usually quote a passage from the piece, but I don’t think that previous sentence needs a ton of explaining. OK, well maybe why he did it does:↵
↵↵⇥ Wise County Schools Superintendent Jeff Perry said the boy did not choose to urinate during the singing of the National Anthem as a sign of disrespect to country or flag. It was happenstance, he said. ↵⇥↵⇥“It’s unfortunate that this did happen, and it happened at that time,” he said. Perry also dismissed the rumor that it was the result of a $20 bet. He said there was no monetary exchange; another player merely dared Huff to do it. ↵⇥
↵↵
↵This was happenstance? You don't think the dare was specifically "Hey, you need to make a liquid first-base path during the anthem, bro!" It's not like his pants fell open and he just started going during the anthem by accident. Please do not pee on the field during the anthem and tell me it's raining.
↵
↵What's funny is the story was covered by a crime beat reporter, but it appears no charges have been filed. (Boys will be boys and all that, but some consequence beyond an apology and some sprints should probably be in order, right?) As a co-worker points out, maybe a fitting punishment would've been community service time at the local VFW.↵
