Not a whole lot has gone Cleveland’s way in the early going, and when Asdrubal Cabrera broke his arm trying to make a diving stop on a grounder Monday night, things went from bad to worse. Cabrera, it seems, is going to need surgery in order to get his arm back in working order:
Cabrera Likely To Go Under The Knife To Repair Broken Forearm
“There’s a high probability he’ll have surgery,” manager Manny Acta said. “We’ll give [reporters] a complete update on Wednesday.”
Cabrera’s .287 average, as of this writing, is third on the team, and he’s an agile player in the middle infield. Without him, the Indians will turn to Luis Valbuena and 25 year old prospect Jason Donald, who’s hit .281 in AAA with a .398 OBP. Donald was one of the young players that came back from Philadelphia in the Cliff Lee trade, and he has done a good job of re-establishing some value after a disastrous 2009.
